Financial Donations

We are set up to fundraise through our auspicing body, Consumers of Mental Health Western Australia (DGR status). You can do so through our Give Now page.

CoMHWA was incorporated in 2005 by a group of committed and passionate people with lived experience who came together with a shared vision.

In 2011, CoMHWA received establishment funding to become Western Australia’s mental health consumers’ association and we have continued to grow and develop.

CoMHWA also has DGR status, meaning that any donations to Integrity Initiative over $2 are tax deductible - that is, they can be taken off taxable income for the year.

Product Donations

Have unused, in-date items laying? Got given a gift that you won’t use or that you already have? Instead of awkwardly asking for a receipt to return it or falling victim to the fallacy that you will “use it one day”, consider donating it!

Our packs are all individual - there will never be two identical ones created. Not only are they personalised with letters and hand-made items, they are also highly dependent on the generous donations of individuals and organisations.

Of course, all items are screened against rigorous safety criteria. The items included in packs are of the highest quality - all unused, in-date, clean, and in line with the safety guidelines of the wards and other facilities to which they are delivered.

That said, if you are thinking of donating but perhaps it may not meet the safety guidelines, we would still love to accept it and utilise it in our fundraising efforts or for our Integrity Army to use in their mission.

You may be wondering...

Understandably, the mental health facilities to which we are sending our packages have restrictions as to what can and cannot be brought onto the ward.

Our top priority at Integrity Initiative is safety - we work closely with all of the wards/ locations to develop individual safety guidelines and create plans to make the packages as inclusive, relevant and beneficial as possible.

This is also essential given that - as we are heavily reliant on donations - packages will very such that no two are the same.

Coming back to the question of "what can I donate?"...

To give a general idea of some of the items we are looking for:

  • Sanitary and personal care items such as soaps, pads, cotton wipes, and tissues

  • Gentle and allergen-free skincare products that are unused and in-date

  • Craft materials that are non-toxic and which are not sharp, metal or glass

  • Soft toys, socks, underwear, and clothing that is clean (ideally new with tags).

To make it easy for you, we have created a general guideline as to what is and is not safe to donate (see above).

If you have any questions, email rachael@integrityinitiative.com.au or complete the Survey Monkey to express your interest in donating

Our donations are all stored in the account operated by our auspice partner and are directly invested into purchasing products for the packages, covering costs for fundraising events, and into printing resources to be distributed.

Our specific priorities will vary in accordance with our goals and upcoming events at the time.

The most common way we use product donations is by directly including them in our care packages

This is the most distinguished component of our Caring with Integrity project, and the idea from which Integrity Initiative was established

Throughout this project, we aim to deliver care packages to several mental health inpatients which will not only inform them of their rights and how to advocate for these, but will also provide them with the material basics they need to feel comfortable and dignified during their stay.

Whilst we are mainly seeking donations to contribute to our care packages, there are a few other ways that we may also want to utilise your donation, including...

  • Craft supplies for our team to use (to make crafts that we will include in packages or sell at local markets. to raise funds)

  • Stationery supplies for our meetings

  • Donations to WACOSS Community Organised Resource Exchange (CORE)

  • Prizes at our education events and workshops

... and more

Our team are well-versed in the safety standards for each of the wards we settings within and will assess the suitability of all items that are donated.

We also work closely with the staff at each specific facilty who themselves guide what is included in packages.

If you have a relevant donation that doesn't meets our safety criteria (such as stationary and craft equipment you don't need), we are still (in most instances) happy to accept it with the understanding that it may be used for other streams of our project. For instance, we may use it as a prize at a fundraising event or for the Integrity Army to make and sell crafts at local markets.

Being recognised for your donation is completely up to you - it is not a requirement and you are free to remain completely anonymous if you wish!

That said, we recognised that many businesses and organisations appreciate being highlighted and this is something we strive to do! There are a few options as to how we can do this…

  1. Dedicated social media post shouting out you and/ or your organisation

  2. Collaborative blog post or article (check out our blogs, including some in partnership with organisations like Care Opinion, Finding North, and The Kids’ Institute).

  3. Exclusive invites to our events and behind-the-scenes information about how Integrity Initiative is progressing.

  4. Stay tuned for more!
