Donations
We have confirmed support from Rabble Books and Games in our Read For Rights event (November 15).
The Mental Health Commission has been able to provide us some brochures to distribute in our packages, despite it not actually being an option open to public - thank you to the team that made this happen!
Both Helping Minds and Mental Illness Fellowship of WA have donated $500 to help support some of our ongoing costs! Thank you so much!
Upcoming events
Read For Rights has just been accepted as an official Pride WA event - this is a pre-loved book, toy and game pop-up store (pay-what-you-can style) that is a collaboration between Maeson’s Soapbox (https://www.maesonssoapbox.com/) and Integrity Initiative, supported by Pride WA and Consumers of Mental Health WA. Tickets are by no means essential, but will help us gauge how much interest we have and thus how many people we can expect - you can view the eventbrite and indicate attendance here.

Unfiltered and Unfiltered Premiere

Unfiltered is a collaborative documentary and campaign by Integrity Initiative and Lily Gresele from How To Be Well. I am excited to share that we had a very successful filming day on Sunday 26th of July, where we interviewed our incredible participants at Diversum Fremantle office (thanks to Natalee for allowing us to use this space!). The editing process has officially commenced and we are looking forward to premiering the event at The Backlot Perth on Sunday October 5th 10am - 12:30pm. We are still finalising details, but tickets are available for a pay-what-you-can donation on our EventBrite, here. NOTE - there are only limited tickets for this event, so act fast! We will more than likely hold more than one event, but any subsequent events are more likely to be more relaxed and less formal.
p.s. if you have a venue you’d like to hold a screening, please let us know!

Logistics
We have FINALLY secured a storage unit and have locked in a moving date. IF ANYONE HAS A LARGE CAR, VAN OR TRUCK AND WOULD BE AVAILABLE TO HELP US MOVE ALL OF OUR STOCK FROM CHIDLOW TO O’CONNOR ON AUGUST 23RD, PLEASE LET US KNOW HERE!
This is our biggest cost so far, even after receiving a charity discount. It has been a very stressful process, and is currently being funded out-of-pocket, so if you have the ability to pitch in, we would greatly appreciate it.
Travel
Rachael is all over the place in the coming months, and will keep everyone updated via social media. She is setting off to speak at a panel on paediatric medicine harms at the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia conference in August and then off to Kuala Lumpur for the Orygen Global ASEAN-Pacific fellowship that Integrity Initiative is a part of. No doubt, there will be a special edition for these trips!

Workshops

We officially have an established workshop handbook, which outlines all of the courses and offerings we are in the process of developing! If any of them interest you, let us know and we can look into potentially booking a pilot with you. All of these have lesson plans, graphics and a basic skeleton however will take time to fully develop them all - so please give us at least a month’s notice to pull them together.
CAHS - PCH pilot packages
We have locked in a date and packing list for our delivery with Perth Children’s Hospital ward 5A.
A massive shout out goes to Laura, the fantastic CNM who has been the key contact in bringing this all to life. Thank you Laura, you embody ‘ally’ in every sense of the word. If the world was full of Lauras, Integrity Initiative would not need to exist.
The pilot will deliver 100 packages commencing on Mental Health week (as we know this is the time we are most likely to have our launch supported by media outlets, which will give us some much-needed awareness). If you have any contacts in media, send them through and I’ll pitch my idea to them!
Albany 2026
We also now have a tentative date for our trip to Albany, which is incredibly exciting! we anticipate that we will be travelling from February 13-19th 2025!
We have a very rough idea of engagements and events that we would like to undertake whilst down there - we will be delivering a load of 50 care packages to Albany’s Acute Psychiatric Unit and hopefully doing some professional development for clinicians, and we will also be engaging (hopefully) with Rich Mind, Neami and headspace. We also hope to be attending and hosting several open community events and celebrations - everything from a stall at the local Saturday markets to film screenings and drop-ins.
If you know a service or person in Albany who you think might be able to help us out or who might be interested in collaborating, link us up!
We are also still seeking funding to attend Albany, so we welcome any suggestions you may have. Once we have all of our plans tentatively scheduled and official letters of support, I will begin reaching out to local ministers and governments to see if they can offer anything to us.
Recruiting new Army members and volunteers
We are currently opening the tadpole pond (volunteer pool) and the Integrity Army to new applicants, as we have had a lot of movement since our foundation. If you are interested in helping out either on a regular, semi-regular or once-off basis, you can find more information here.
Here is the form to fill out if you would like to join us! https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=ugIA263uJkKBaiAp22EEOf2gFmzzmNpIkpZiLkTMiG5UMEZJOVZPT1c2SFlQME1CSVRTVUZNSk4wMy4u
Grants and funding updates
Grants and funding continues to be the bane of my existence, but I hold hope. In the past two months, I have applied for an absurd number of grants, so the hope is that we will have some success soon. Until then, keep sending through any opportunities you come across and I will keep up the hard work.
As a small win, we were successful in another small ($1,000) grant - Protostars through Blackbird Foundation - which we will be using to develop some of our workshops and cover the cost of some materials for care packages that we have been unable to get donated. The best part about this grant is that it is not just $, it is also training in entrepreneurship and connection to a network of other young people in similar roles.

Team spotlight
This month’s shoutout is to Maeson for being so onboard to hop on as a partner for our Read For Rights project! So excited to be supporting your incredible mobile book trailer and spending some time with you in Perth later this year!
Another shoutout to Bri for always sending through grants and opportunities. Thank you Bri, you are a fantastic.
